Getting Involved

Being a non-profit organisation, Yayasan LaSallian Kuching (YLK) relies entirely on the generosity of individuals and the corporate sector to run its programmes. These generous supporters believe that the programmes run by YLK will help to bring a positive change to the children.

The teachers and assistants at the centres are given an honorarium to defray some of their expenses in return for their teaching skills and expertise while some corporate sponsors committing yearly amount for the upkeep of the centres and facilities.

You can get involved either as a volunteer or contribute funds towards the operation of the centres and programmes:

A. Volunteer

YLK welcome volunteers to help out especially in the following areas:

  • Teachers specialising in English, Mathematics and Science
  • Specially trained teachers proficient in teaching children with various forms of learning abilities
  • IT personnel
  • Experienced fund raisers
  • Transport services to reach out to children staying far from the respective centres

C. Corporate Sponsorship

While some of the centres are based in the village community halls, YLK needs to rent space for other centres, especially those in the urban areas and furnish them appropriately. YLK also maintains an office in Kuching for administrative and training purposes.

We are also in need of teaching aids and computers especially for the students with different learning abilities.

Part of its future development is to build a centre in Kuching to run its programmes. Besides running free tuition and special classes, YLK is proposing to charge a nominal fee for those who can afford it. This will help to fund the free lessons in the long run.

Corporate sponsors can also display their logos and products on this website.

Corporate sponsors will be listed in YLK Supporters under YLK Family with hyperlink to their respective website and/or Facebook Page. In the event that you wish to be anonymous, please notify us with the full name of your company and request for anonymity
