On the 24th September 2016, teachers from various La Salle Centres gathered at the Yayasan La Sallian office for a trip to Satoyama Farm. At around 8.45am, we departed from the office to the farm in three different vans. There were a total of 19 teachers and staffs who visited the farm. At around 10.30am, we arrived at the farm which is located at 52 Mile, Kuching-Serian Road. The management greeted and welcomed us before they showed us to their meeting hall.
After everyone gathered in the meeting hall, we were given a brief introduction about the farm by Mr Peter Yap and Miss Diana Chin. By 11.20am, we had an enjoyable and delicious tea time provided by the management.
After tea break, we started the tour around the Satoyama farm – guided by Mr Peter Yap. We learned many resourceful information as we went along – each stop was briefly but informatively explained to us.
After a good tour around the farm, it was around 12.45. We shared joy and knowledge about raising organic farm animals and cultivating organic plants. With it, we hoped to make our garden a beautiful place and also plant some vegetables or fruits for healthier lifestyle. We hope that the teachers may pass down the knowledge of organic farming to their students in the rural centres. Of course, the trip ended with delicious organic roasted chickens and rendang shared by all and provided by the management at their restaurant called Foodlife Restaurant located at Riveria Ph 5, Kota Samarahan.
Thank you for such an enjoyable day, Satoyama Farm!
